WorldSim3D development roadmap
Tue Jan 10, 2023 11:22 am
STAGE 1
The engine has not developed in the last 2 years, so a slightly updated version will be released first, in which there will be no major changes. (You know, it happens that someone has a good thingy, he used to use it and liked it, but for some reason he put it in the closet and it was gathering dust there. But now he remembered about it again and decided to wash it and bring it into proper condition.)
STAGE 2
We would like to make more games, demos and examples with the current version of the engine, which already implements a lot of features.

well, there is progress, that's great! and what about the Linux version?

The most recent Linux version was 1.0.3 (September 2017). It's still pretty good, given the overall concept of the engine (we're not chasing giant game engines, but doing something that will bring fun). But I must admit, that the version is a little outdated already. The Linux version was developed by our chief programmer, who has taken a sabbatical so far . When he comes back, we'll discuss it with him.what about the Linux version?
To develop the linux version, we still need more interested users, so we'll wait and see. Let's wait until there are at least 10 potential users of the Linux version.

I was probably mistaken. I looked today what is included in the latest version of the engine and ... there are libs for linux! It turns out that the latest version of the engine (1.12) was for both Windows and Linux, I missed it.
Those who have Linux, please check if you have a version of the engine 1.12.

well, now it remains only to find compiled libraries .
even if there are none, I have configured lazarus for cross compilation. and I started writing bindings for freepascal under version 1.12. I'm testing from under wine

So, as I said that at stage 1, after the stagnation in the development of the engine, there will be a small alteration of the engine examples.
1) The aspect ratio of the example windows will be 16:9, which corresponds to such standards as WXGA/ HD Ready / HD 720p (EDTV / HDTV), Full HD, WQXGA/ Quad HD 1440p, etc., i.e. for example 1366x768, 1920×1080, etc. (not 4:3, i.e. 800x600, as before). One of the users of engine drew attention to this and he's right, because 4:3 is already looks like an old standard.
Work on this has begun!

Work on the engine has been resumed. At the moment, we are working on correcting examples, some elements of which are a little outdated. Everything will be updated!
